Coaching Philosophy

At Trailstrong Running, we believe running is about more than pace or medals—it’s about discovering your strength, building confidence that might be hiding, and owning your identity as an athlete. We coach to create a space where everyone belongs in running—especially those in their 30s to 50s who may be starting over, just starting out, or looking to fall in love with running again. No matter where you're at, we’ll meet you there. Together, we’ll set meaningful goals and create a plan that fits your life—not the other way around.

All you have to do is lace up, show up and try.

Our coaching philosophy focuses on building a strong aerobic base, developing smart, sustainable habits, and training the whole athlete—body, mind, and spirit. Whether you’re chasing a time goal, training for your first half marathon, or just trying to believe in yourself again, we’re here for you every step, every stumble, and every sweaty, joyful finish line.

  • Trailstrong Running is a Community Coached Running Club—more than a social jog-and-chat or solid run group. Here’s what you get when you run with us:

  • Yes, there is a nominal cost. The Community Coached Running is priced at $65 per season with three seasons per year.

    Spring Readiness: February - May

    Summer Racing June - November

    Fall: Winter Recovery in December and January.

  • The Individualized Run Plan Review is priced at $25 for a single plan; $40 for two plan reviews.

    The Run Pace Assessment & Plan Creation is priced at $50.

  • Yep, we sure do! We run right alongside you—cheering you on, answering questions, and helping you stay focused (and pumped!) during training and races. Coaches rotate through pace groups so everyone gets support. Not into it? No worries—just give us a heads-up and we’ll give you space to do your thing.

  • It depends! (The ultimate runner answer, right?) Weight’s a tricky beast—tied up with genetics, food habits, workout frequency, and whether you high-five or hide from strength training.

    But here’s the good news: running will boost your fitness, mood, and energy in big ways. Around here, we don’t run to add days to our life—we run to add life to our days!

  • At Trailstrong, we’re all about the new, returning, or still-figuring-it-out runners. If you're chasing podium finishes, need detailed gait analysis, or want high-performance coaching, we’ve got awesome folks we can refer you to. But if you're here to build confidence, fall in love with running, and enjoy the ride—we’ve got you covered!

  • Yes, absolutely! Moms with stroller babes and dog parents are totally welcome. Just a few friendly ground rules: kiddos need to stay buckled in, and strollers should stick to sidewalks during road runs. Pups are welcome too—just keep them on a leash (no slack, please!) to avoid tripping anyone. And yep, if your furry friend leaves a little “gift” on the route, it’s gotta be scooped. We’re all about safe, happy miles for everyone!

  • Great question. We are somewhere in between a running club and individualized coaching. We believe in fitness for life and we do this because we love it. There is a day job that pays the bills (and sometimes gets in the way of running), so the price is set to encourage accountability but to not create a barrier to your fitness journey.

  • Funny name for a business, huh? We think so too. Sure, we rarely run on actual trails—but life? It's full of them. Twists, turns, detours, and the occasional pothole.
